Our Commitment

Our Hope is Unity is committed to providing essential support and resources to individuals and families facing various challenges. Below are key services and contact information for homelessness prevention, mental health, financial empowerment, and other crucial support systems.


Homelessness Prevention

The Homeless Prevention Program offers rental/mortgage assistance, utility payments, and supportive services to individuals and families at risk of eviction or homelessness. Services are designed to stabilize housing and shorten shelter stays.


  • Eligibility: Individuals or families in danger of eviction, foreclosure, or currently homeless. A temporary economic crisis must be documented, along with the ability to meet future rental obligations.
  • Services Provided:
    • Rent or mortgage payments (including arrears)
    • Utility payments (including arrears)
    • Security deposits
    • Job preparation, housing location, and case management

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Support

  • Illinois Domestic Violence Helpline: 1.877.863.6338
  • National Suicide Prevention Hotline: Call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org
  • National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) Helpline: 1.800.950.NAMI (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM)

Early Childhood and Youth Programs

  • Chicago Early Learning Hotline: 312.229.1690
    Safe, in-person learning options for children ages 0-5 across Chicago.
  • My CHI. My Future: Find youth programs, jobs, and events through the My CHI. My Future website.

Financial Empowerment & Economic Assistance

  • Chicago Treasurer’s Office Economic Empowerment Programs: Free financial education and counseling on debt management, credit improvement, and wealth building. Learn more at HOPE Inside.
  • Clear Path Relief (Motorist Debt Relief): Assists low-income Chicago residents with vehicle-related debt. Check eligibility at Clear Path Relief.


Public Assistance Programs

  • SNAP (Food Assistance): Call 800.843.6154 or apply at SNAP Application Portal.
  • WIC (Women, Infants, and Children Program): Call 217.782.2166 to apply or visit WIC Eligibility Tool.


Veterans Support

  • Veteran’s Crisis Line: Call 988 and press 1 or text 838255. Access free, confidential support available 24/7 for veterans and their families.


Crisis Resources

  • Crisis Text Line: Text HELLO to 741741 for 24/7 crisis support.
  • National Runaway Safeline: 1.800.RUNAWAY (1.800.786.2929) or text 66008.
  • Emergency Services: For mental health crises, ask for a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) officer by calling 911.


Additional Support

  • Chicago Re-Entry Support Centers: Assistance for formerly incarcerated individuals transitioning back into the workforce. Call 3-1-1 for assistance or visit Re-Entry Support Centers.
